Shreveport, Louisiana Wedding – Julie Andrews Style

I recorded so many images at Julie’s wedding that I just had to go overboard on the blog. I had the pleasure once again of working along side one of Shreveport’s finest wedding planners, Donna Brian (Love in Bloom). I can not say enough about how easy she makes my job. Journalism comes so much easier when the details are taken care of and my clients are relaxed because of such.
If you were wondering about the title . . . my client’s name really is Julie Andrews and by the way she is an amazing artist.

Erin Akin - She’s wearing that gorgeous Oscar de la Renta dress! How awesome and what a fun dress to photograph!

A Southern Louisiana Bride

I just love it when a person (especially a theater graduate) tells me that they think they do not photograph well or that they do not like being in front of the camera. Humility will get you the greatest images! I would like to introduce you to Elisabeth. Notice the “s:)

This is how I pulled off the previous shot. This will be one of my last shoots with Donald’s assistance. He is due to graduate from Tech this weekend. This shoot was special for both Donald and Elisabeth as they are brother and sister.

Screeming pink _______ , a turtle, and a squirrel for an UW bridal session?

The title will make more since in a little bit – keep reading :)
This was a monumental shoot for many reasons. I reached a new level shooting UW and there will be many to thank. For starters the Cowgill’s generosity for letting me use their pool was foundational. Second would be the efforts of my friend and floral designer Lauren Roebuck. Lauren prepared for us 6 perfect and vibrant bouquets. Third but not least would be my 2 clients: Anna and Morgan. What you do not see in the images is the temperature of the water! It was so cold that when we would routinely come up for air none of us could talk b/c our teeth were chattering so badly. Amazingly you can not see any goosebumps but trust me they were. In fact it was so cold . . . (I know… How cold was it?) that my assistant for the day Nicole (thank you Nicole) bailed on us after being in the water for only an hour.

As for the title, well we realized pretty quickly (during Morgan’s shoot) that undergarments in some cases do show through some dresses. In Morgan’s case screaming pink panties (so ladies if you shoot UW bridals, nude colors work best). As for the turtle and squirrel, they were not real, but they played a big part. They were removed from Mrs. Cowgill’s landscaping attire for purposes of weights :) They were well taken care of during the shoot.
